Fore
' ign Office

When the State of Israel was
founded, it had to conduct a broad
foreign policy. The threat to the
security of the State from the Arab
States, the rapid economic develop-
ment of the country. and the fact
that the majority of the Jewish
nation is still spread in other coun-
tries of the world—placed the for-
eign policy of the State of Israel
through spreading information in-
tended to gain the support of the
countries of the world for Israel's
efforts to insure its peace. It is
also the policy of the foreign office
to gain the help of the countries of
the world for the economic develop-
ment of the country. For this pur-
pose, contacts are made with inter-
national organizations. It is-also our
foreign policy to make contacts with
the Jewish nation in the Diaspora.
For this, the Foreign Office has
ambassadors, envoys, consuls, ad-
visers and secretaries spread in all
the Israeli legations in the world.
The Foreign Office whose center
is in Jerusalem, has special de-
partments for information, cultural
connections and economic matters.
Lately, an additional department has
been added, - the Department for In-
ternational coordination. A special
department looks after the armistice
agreements signed at the time, be-
tween the Arab States and Israel.
