The board of directors of
Cong. Bnai Israel of Pontiac
unanimously voted to extend
the present tenure of Rabbi
Israel Goodman for an addition-
al 18 years. The Hebrew euqiva-
lent of 18 is "Chai," which
means "life," and will make the
total tenure of Rabbi Goodman
25 years.
This honor was bestowed
upon Rabbi Goodman "in grate-
ful recognition of devoted and
sincere service to his congrega-
tion and his community."
Prior to his coming to Pontiac
in • 1956, Rabbi Go( dman occu-
pied pulpits in Washington,
Pennsylvania and San Juan,
Puerto Rico. He was the first
full time Rabbi in the history
of Puerto Rico, and while there,
was chaplain of all the Armed
Forces of the Antilles Com-
mand and the Carribean area.
In addition to being the
spiritual leader of his congrega-
tion, Rabbi Goodman has served
on the Pontiac Police Trial
Board since 1959. He is a mem-
ber of the Ministers Committee
of the Oakland County Juvenile
Court, United Fund Agency and
is on the Speakers Buerau of
the Jewish Community Council
of Detroit.
Charles Jacobs, president of
Cong. Bnai Israel, in announcing
the decision of the board, said:
"a great milestone has been at-
tained in the history of our
congregation. Since Rabbi Good-
man became affiliated with our
congregation, we have made
great spiritual and educational
strides under his leadership."

Bnai Moshe to Unveil
Tablet for 6 Million
Cong. Bnai Moshe will unveil
a special tablet in memory of the
six million Jews who died at the
hands of the Nazis during World
War II at Sabbath services on
June 9.
The tablet will be a permanent
part of the synagogue and will
be lighted at every Yizkor serv-
ice. Rabbi Moses Lehrman will
preach on "The Unforgotten Six
Million" at the unveiling Sab-
bath service.

Elects Agree, Rubiner
Samuel H. Rubiner and Charles
N. Agree were elected chairman
and secretary - treasurer, respec-
tively, of the Clover Hill Park
Cemetery board of trustees.
They succeed Milton M. Mad-
din and Julius Berman, who will
