At a meeting held recently, the Zionist Organization of Detroit,
under the leadership of Dr. Bernard Weston, membership
chairman, made plans for an intensive campaign for new mem-
bers and a retention drive for old members. The latest develop-
ments in the Israeli-Syrian crisis have once again confirmed the
trusts that the only reliable ally of Israel is the Jewish people,
guided by the Zionist movement and the Zionist Organization of
America, according to Judge Ira G. Kaufman, president of the
ZOD. Shown at a membership campaign planning session above
are, from left, (seated) Sherman Shapiro, vice nresident; Dr.
Bernard Weston, viee president; Ben Lewis, vice president;
(standing) Mrs. Samuel Gold, ZOD executive director; William
Bergman, Dr. Ted Winshall and Ezekiel Le&in, director of the
Michigan and Ohio Valley Regions of ZOD. For membership

Goal of 10,000
Trees for JNF

Detroit Bnai Brith stepped up
its efforts in behalf of the
Martyrs Forest of the Jewish
National Fund, by undertaking
a special campaign to plant a
forest of 10,000 trees by District
6 by convention time in July,
according to Leo Genser, chair-
man of the Martyrs Forest com-
mittee of the Metropolitan De-
troit Bnai Brith Council Israel
committee.
The Forest, which the 27 Bnai
Brith Lodges making up the
Council are planting, will honor
the four past Detroit presidents
of District 6: Aaron Drook,
Samuel W. Lieb, Harry Yud-
koff and Sidney Karbal. Several
lodges have pledged to complete
groves of 1000 trees each, Gen-
ser announced.
The effort was undertaken
by Bnai Brit]) upon the desig-
