Strathcona, left today for a
three-week tour and study mis-
sion for W o me n' s American
0 R T (Organization for Re-
habilitation through Training).
She and four other leaders
from the U.S. will visit schools
in P ar i s, Marseilles, Lyon,
Milan, Geneva and Rome. Their
mission will also take them to
Casablanca, Teherna and Tel
Aviv the purpose, to study the
requirements and evaluate the
work of the world-wide. ORT
system of vocational schools.
Between 40 and 50 thousand
refugees have fled from the
Moslem countries to Marseilles,
France. These people must be
trained so that they may fit
into the economy of the coun-

In Geneva, Mrs. Becker will
meet with the World ORT -

ports on the ORT school in
India which will soon be
opened in Bombay, aided by the
Joint Distribution Committee.
She said upon departing:
"ORT is a world-wide voca-
tional training agency with over
600 schools in 20 countries. Its
students are teenagers — and
sometimes their parents — who
have fled from anti-Semitic per-
secution: they are boys and
girls in Israel trying to build
their own lives and the life of
their young country.
"W o m e n' s American ORT
sponsors a five-point program
designed to meet all of the
needs of its student s. With
tools, pocket money, textbooks,
food and clothing and health
care, ORT guides the youth to-
ward security.
"There are 60,000 women all
over the U.S. working to better
and further the ORT global
program of vocaitonal training."

regional president of Michigan
Women's American ORT and
the immediate past vice presi-
