BETTE KLEGON, senior in
the School of Architecture and
Design at the University of Mich-
igan, has two oil paintings in
the Exhibition for Michigan
Artists at the Detroit Art Insti-
tute She competed against 1,500
artists. The show, consisting of
120 works. opens today and will
continue through July 22. Miss
Klegon will also have works ex-
hibited this summer in the Art-
ist's Fair in Ann Arbor. Her
paintings at the Institute are
entitled "Catching Tigers in Red
Weather" and "Clipper 3."

been elected president of the
Ninth District University of
Michigan Alumni Clubs at the
recent annual meeting. A U-M
graduate in 1953, Steinberg was
president of Sigma Alpha Mu
fraternity. He has been secre-
tary and a member of the board
of governors of the University
of Michigan Club of Detroit and
is the first .scholarship awardee
of that club ever to hold an
office in the club and in the
Ninth District. He is vice presi-
dent of Blumberg Brothers Co.,

tion, member of the Knesset, and

Israel Party, was given a recep-
tion in New York by leaders of
the movement in the United

lei Agudat Israel is a worker's
party with two seats in the Knes-
set and is a member of the
Niapai-led Israel government
coalition.

4 cups cooked Michigan Navy Beans
(boiled 'til just tender)
1/2 cup sliced green onion
1 cup sliced radishes
1/2 cup diced cucumber
2 tomatoes, cut in wedges
1 /4 cup diced black olives
1 teaspoon chopped parsley
1 teaspoon chopped dill
3 tablespoons salad oil
6 tablespoons vinegar
Lettuce leaves
Salt and pepper to taste
Mix all ingredients thoroughly ex-
cept tomatoes which will top the
salad. Serve on lettuce leaves. Serves
10.

2 cans (1-lb. each) kidney beans,
drained
1/2 cup diced celery
1 cup shredded cabbage
1 /2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon Tabasco
1/4 teaspoon Accent
1/4 teaspoon onion salt
Salt, pepper, seasoning salt
1 /4 cup chopped sweet pickle
1 cup diced yellow cheese
Salad greens
Mix all ingredients except salad
greens. Serve on a bed of salad
greens. Makes 6 servings.
QUICK AND EASY
Lightly mix together 1 can (1-lb.)
pork and beans, 1 medium onion
chopped fine, 1 cup chopped celery,
2 tomatoes (cut in wedges), 2 tea-
spoons vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon salt and
dash of black pepper. Serve topped
with a spoonful of sour cream mixed
with chopped pimiento. Chill. 4
servings.
