Naval and Air Attache at the

ton, "The Three from Judea,"
a company of Israeli singers,
dancers and instrumentalists, the

Jewish War Veterans Depart-
ment of Michigan, Zionist and
other youth organizations, will
be among the participants at the
city-wide celebration of the 14th
anniversary of Israel's inde-
pendence, Sunday, 8 p.m., in
the Adas Shalom Social Hall,
7045 Curtis, it was announced
by Stanley J. Winkelman, presi-
dent of the Jewish Community
Council, and Morris Lieberman,
chairman of the Detroit Zionist
Council, co-chairmen of the joint
committee of the two organiza-
tions under whose auspices the

celebration is presented an-
nually.
Dr. Richard C. Hertz, rabbi of
Temple Beth El, will deliver
the invocation. There will be
pageantry and special decora-
tive motifs prepared by a com-
mittee under the direction of
Maynard Feldman, and a drum
and bugle corps directed by
Jack Shelby, chairman of Mum-
ford's fine arts department.

Col. Prihar, formerly com-
mandant at the Staff and Com-
mand College of the Israel
Defense Forces, will make his
first visit to Detroit on this
occasion. He has had an ex-
tensive military career both
in the British Armed Forces
as well as with the Israeli De-
fense Forces.

Zmira Ronen, a member of
"The Three from Judea," is a
native of Jerusalem, where she
began her career as a teacher
and later served in the Ariny
of Israel. Upon completion of
her military duties she joined
leading Israeli folk dance troupes

and was frequently invited to
participate in numerous official
celebrations in her country. Dov
Avital, who hails from the Kib-
butz "Ma'aleh Hachamisha," is
a master accordionist who at-
tained wide popularity in Israel
during his appearances with folk
dance troupes in the hills of
Judea. Yerachmiel Kugel, who
was born in the ancient city
of Tiberias, served in the army
of Israel as a paratrooper,
where he reached the rank of
lieutenant.
These sabras (native-born Is-
raelis), heirs of a tradition that
goes back many centuries have
performed in a number of Amer-
ican cities since their recent
arrival in this country. They will
make their Detroit debut at this
celebration.
Philip Slomovitz, a former
president of the Detroit Zionist
Council, will preside at the
celebration.
Singing of the national an-
thems will be led by Bella
Goldberg.
