Rabbi Melvin Goodman, ad-
ministrative officer of the He-
brew Theological College of Chi-
cago, will meet with Detroit
Jewish leaders during the week
of April 30 to discuss the prog-
ress of the new Jewish Uni-
versity of America, with which
the college is affiliated.
He will tell of the opening of
the Rose Cohen College for
Women, scheduled for Oct. 1, and
of the expansion of the Liberal
Arts College of the university,
which is now located on a $5,-
000,000 campus in Skokie, a
northwest suburb of Chicago.
Among those in the Detroit
area who are graduates of the
college are Max and Morris Car-
mem, prominent in the metals
industry; Rabbi Jacob M. Brown,
executive secretary of the Vaad
Hayashivoth (Council of Rabbini-
cal Schools); Rabbi Israel Notis,
executive director of the Vaad
Harabonim (Rabbinical Council);
and Rabbi Joseph Sperka.

University of Judaism
in Los Angeles Expands

LOS ANGELES (JTA)—The
Teachers Institute of the Uni-
versity of Judaism will be re-
placed by two schools because
of needs created by the expan-
sion of the i n s t i t u t e, Dean
Samuel Dinin has announced.
In place of the Institute. the
university will have a College
of Judaica. and a Hebrew
Teachers _College. Evening
scchool courses leading to the
degree of Associate of Arts and
Bachelor of Hebrew Literature
will continue to be offered.
Graduates of the Los Angeles
'Hebrew High School will be
able to enter a Junior College of
Judaica.

Dinner June 6 to Honor Goldberg Rusk, Meany Attend

Goldbergs' Seder

At a luncheon given in honor of the 60th birthday of David
Goldberg, prominent leader in many communal undertakings
here, plans were made for the annual Yeshiva University
dinner here, on June 6, at Cobo Hall, at which Goldberg will be
given national honors in recognition of his many years of
services to the university. Committee heads for the dinner in
Goldberg's honor will be named next week. Headquarters for
the dinner committee have been set up at 18450 Livernois,
telephone 861-0805, under the direction of Harold Burke. In
the photo, at the luncheon at which initial plans were made,

WASHINGTON, (JTA)—Sec-
retary of State Dean Rusk and
Mrs. Rusk were the Passover
seder guests of Labor Secretary
and Mrs. Arthur J. Goldberg.
The Goldbergs' invitation was
part of a long-standing family
custom of inviting non-Jewish
friends to participate in the
seder service, a Labor Depart-
ment's spokesman explained.
Other guests at the Goldberg
seder included AFL-CIO Presi-
dent George Meany and his
wife.

tion of Adas Shalom United He-
brew School will hold its final
meeting of the school year 12:30

Yeshiva U. Seminary
Gets $50,000 Grant

NEW YORK (JTA) — A gift
of $50,000 to provide a per-
petual scholarship fund for gift-
ed students at the Rabbi, Isaac
E 1 c h a n a n Theological Semi-
nary of Yeshiva University, by
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Yablick,
of Jersey City, N.Y., was an-
nounced by Dr. Samuel Belkin,
president of the university. The
fund will be known as the Ger-
shon N. and Jennie Yablick
Scholarship in memory of the
donors' parents.
