the recent spate of anti-Jewish
acts in the Soviet Union.

acted to this press campaign
today by printing an article
claiming that the charges of
anti-Semitism, leveled here
against Soviet authorities, "are
motivated exclusively by the
cold war and the desire to

Andre Blumel, former presi-
dent of the French Zionist
Organization. announced today
that he plans to visit the Soviet
Union this summer with the
intention of drawing the atten-
tion of high Soviet authorities
to the grave anxiety caused by
the Moscow attitude toward the
Jewish minority in the USSR.

The 14th anniversary of the
State of Israel will launch the
intensive Spring phase of the
1962 Israel Bond drive in com-
munities throughout the United
States and Canada, it was an-
nounced by Dr.. Joseph J.
Schwartz, vice president of the
Israel Bond Organization.
More than 300 campaign
meetings honoring Israel's an-
niversary are scheduled for
May and June to stimulate wide
response to the Israel Bond
drive for 1962, which is seek-
ing to raise a minimum of $66,-
500,000 for the development of
the country's economy.
The anniversary celebrations,
Dr. Schwartz pointed out, will
mark the formal opening of Is-
rael's "Decade of the Negev,"
during which the vast desert
area must be developed with
the aid of Israel Bonds as a
center of industrialization and
immigrant settlement.
