But the process of subjection
and liberation has quickened,
writes Monroe Berger in "The
Arab World Today," published
by Doubleday. Dr. Berger cites
the British rule of the American
colonies for 200 years and Span-

300 years. But it was only 60 to
65 years from British occupa-
tion of Egypt in 1882 until the
end of British influence in Jor-

profound and no facet of Arab
life can be considered apart
from it, although the strong im-
pulse for change comes from the
Arabs themselves.
