VIENNA, (JTA) — The Gen-
eral Assembly of the Austrian
Parliament approved by an
overwhelming majority the Aus-
trian - West German financial
agreement setting up a joint
compensation fund for victims
of the Nazi era in Austria.
Under the agreement, West
Germany will contribute about
$80,000,000 or about half of the
total joint fund for such pay-
ments to political and racial
persecutees. A total of 157 dep-
uties—all members of the So-
cial and Peoples' Parties—voted
for the agreement. Only eight
deputies of the right-wing Aus-
trian Freedom Party, known for
its neo-Nazi tendencies, voted
against ratification.
