New experiences and a thrill-
ing adventure await Alan Gold-
man, a Mumford junior, who
was chosen by the American
Field Service to represent the
United States as an exchange
student to Japan. Through this
goodwill program, Alan will
spend the entire summer with
a Japanese family, sharing the
communal life of Japan. Stu-
dents are chosen on the basis of
their scholastic achievement
coupled with their extracur-
ricular activities. Alan is a
member of the school band, is
the swimming teams top diver,
and a member of the School's
American Field Service Club.
Mumfordites are looking for-
ward to spring vacation as a
time to relax and gather their
strength for the final eight
weeks of the semester. The re-
spite from studies will begin
April 19, and end April 30.
Seniors are in for a surprise
on April 17 and 18 when the
Senior Variety Show is pre-
sented. Though the show itself
has become a tradition, this
year's presentation will break
many precedents. Due to the
wealth of talent in the class,
the show has been extended to
two days for the first time. It
will feature song, dance, and
comedy acts backed up by an
eleven-piece band, largest ever
in a senior production.
Rehearsals for the Drama
Club's production of Arthur
Miller's "All My Sons" are in
full swing. The play is slated
for presentation May 17 and 18.
The baseball team opened its
season last week with two non-
league wins over Chadsey. The
track team won its first indoor
meet, while tennis and golf are
slated to start after vacation.
With all the excitement of
the Sadie Hawkins Dance, a
great success; the variety show,
and other senior activities, grad-
uates are becoming quite con-
scious of the big events which
will occur in two month s.
Chosen as speakers for com-
mencement were Judy Klein,
John Shout, Tom Wolf, and
Beverly Wood. Graduation
again will be divided into two
'rograms due to the large num-
ber (624) of graduates.
The Prom • has been named
"Aloha," good-by, and will be
held June 21 at the Masonic
Temple.
