Community Groups Observe Passover

Detroit area Jewry will partici-
pate in a number of activities in
the coming days to observe the
Passover holiday. The event spon-
sored by community groups and
Hebrew schools are listed below,
followed by synogogue arrange-
ments as announced to The Jew-
ish News.

Youth Organization. and Ameri-
cans for Pro'gressive Israel will

Seder 8:15 p.m. April 20 at the
Ilayim Greenberg Center. A spe-
cial hagadah. based upon that
of the Kibbutz Artzi in Israel,
will he used in the observance
modeled after an Israeli kibbutz
Seder. Participating will he the
folk dance group. creative dance,
choir and dramatic pantomime
groups of the youth movement.

Young Israel of Oak-Woods
Religious School will hold a
model Seder 10 a.m. Sunday
with the children of all grades
participating. Leonard Servet-
ter, school board &airman,
and Rabbi Israel M. Zakon,
principal, will report on fu-
ture plans and curriculum im-
provements to parents of the
students at a session prior to
the program.

Detroit Socialites will hold its

third annual Seder, to be con-
ducted by Rabbi Nathaniel Stein-
berg of the Livonia Jewish Con-
gregation, 8:30 p.m. April 22 at
the Beth Abraham Synagogue.
Guest artist will be Maury
Wayne of the Dan Freiman
Chorus. Refreshments will be
served. The public is invited. For

The Parents Group of the
Bnai Moshe Religious School will
present a Passover Institute for
Parents 10 am. Sunday at the
synagogue. Topics to be discuss-
ed are "How to Conduct a Seder,"
"What to Stress on Passover"
and "How to Bring New Mean-
ing into Passover." The music
portion of the progr am is under
the direction of Harry Siegel. In
charge of the institute are Rabbi
Moses Lehrman and Walter Far-
her.

brew-Yiddish Shule will hold a
model Seder 1 p.m. Sunday at
the Hayim Greenberg Center,
with all classes participating.
The school choir, conducted by
Mrs. Bella Goldberg, will sing
songs of 'Passover. The PTA

public is invited.

Cong. Gemiluth Chassodim Re-
ligious School will conduct its
annual model Seder 11 a.m. Sun-
day at the synagogue with all
classes taking part. Larry Selig
will lead the service. The sister-
hood will serve traditional foods.

The Jewish House of Shelter.
1620 Taylor, will hold its annual
Sedarim on Wednesday and
Thursday, according to President
Manuel Rosenthal. Guests will
include patients from Eloise,
Northville, Lapeer and Ypsilanti
state hospitals, who will be cared
for at the House of Shelter for
the entire Passover week, said
Morris Dorn, vice president and
chairman of the House Commit
tee. Indigent and transient guests
are invited, also. Mrs. Morris
Dorn, president of the Ladies
Auxiliary, is in charge of meal
preparations. Passover food will
also be provided for the Jewish
prisoners in the Detroit House of
Correction and the Wayne Coun-
ty Jail. An open house will be
held at the House of Shelter 2-5
p.m. April 22. The above activi-
ties are made possible by the Al-
lied Jewish Campaign and are
administered by the House of
Shelter board and the Jewish
Family and Children's Service.

Temple Beth Am of Livonia
will hold its second annual
model Seder Sunday at the
YWCA at Grand River and
Beech Daly roads, under the
auspices of the sisterhood.
Rabbi Herbert Stern will di-
rect tire service, to be con-
&acted by students of the He-
brew sclraol, confirmation class
and fifth and sixth grades of
the Sunday school. Traditional
foods will be served. Friends
are invited. Assisting Mrs. Don-
ald Levenson, committee chair-
man, will be Mesdames Al
Dawes, Alan Sipher, Carl Les-
son, Milton Faye, Herbert Wel-
ler, Manuel Shelden, David
Davidson and Samuel Gaft.
