Women's Advertising Club of
Detroit as "Women Who Care"
at a luncheon - fashion show
Wednesday at Cobo Hall.
The event was part of the
observance of the city's "Salute
to Women Who Work NSTek,"
sponsored by the Central Busi-
ness District Association, ac-
cording to Mrs. Mae Derdarian,
Women's Advertising Club
president.
Judges who selected the
metropolitan area's five out-
standing women volunteers
were Dr. Mel Ravitz, Detroit
Councilman; Charles T. Fisher,
III, National Bank of Detroit
vice president; and R. T. John-
stone, vice president and gen-
eral manager of Marsh and
McLennan.
Mrs. Welt is

or cultural projects.

last year. Mrs. Bella Glenner,
chairman of this division, stated
she is confident that the Pio-
neer Women will not only
cover more cards than last year
but exceed last year's campaign
effort by several hundred dol-
lars. The Scrap Metal Division
has done a very good job this
year under the able leadership
of Samuel Schwartzberg. Lie-
berman also praised the work
of the drive's trade union di-
vision.
Isaac Litwak, president and
business representative of the
Laundry and Linen Drivers
Union, Local No. 285, addressed
about 100 members of Local
285 at a brunch meeting March
18 at the Furniture Club and
spoke about the urgency of
raising as much cash as pos-
sible within the next few weeks
to help bring many thousands
of Jews to Israel from lands
where they no longer wish to
live.
Sidney Shevitz addressed the
gathering and greeted the lo-
cal's members in behalf of the
campaign's officers.
The campaign council of His-
tadrut met at the Labor Zionist
Institute last Sunday morning
to hear Harold Silver speak
in glowing terms about the
achievements of the people of
Israel.
Members of the campaign
council were urged by the chair-
man of the meeting, Philip
Goldstein, to intensify their ef-
forts during the next two weeks
and to cover as many outstand-
ing cards as possible.
Norman Katz, the campaign's
financial secretary, reported
that the campaign was running
only slightly behind last year
at this time.

named the 1962 recipient of the
annual Ernest 0. Melby Award
given by the NYU School of
Education Alumni Association.
The award, named for a former
dean of the School of Education,
honors distinguished service in
the field of human relations. It

conference of the association in
