Michigan Region Zionists to Hold 12th Annual Convention in Saginaw

WASHINGTON, (JTA)—Con-
gressman James Roosevelt, Cali-
fornia Democrat, introduced a
bill in the House of Representa-
tives to bar U.S. aid to any
country which discriminates
against American citizens on the
basis of race, religion or color.
The measure is aimed specif-
ically at the Arab bloc boycotts
against nations or indiiiduals
dealing with Israel.

held April 8 at the Bancroft
Hotel in Saginaw, announced
Milton S. Marwil, president of
the Region.

mann was moved Tuesday night
from his death cell in the Ram-
leh prison to the community
hall in Jerusalem. A hearing
on his appeal from his death
sentence began Thursday in
the community hall.

in various depositions, he was
convinced would be his last—

Seminar in Israel
for U.S. Teenagers

The National Ramah Seminar
launched last year in the United
States as an intensive study pro-
gram for teenagers, will be held
this summer in Israel, it was
announced by Louis Winer, pres-
ident of the National Ramah
Commission.
About 60 students who have
completed three years of high
school and are at least 16 years
old will participate in the pro-
gram combining Jewish studies
this year with exposure to the
life, people, culture and land of
Israel..
Rabbi Shmuel Leiter, instruc-
tor in Hebrew Literature at the
Teachers Institute of the Jewish
Seminary of America, is seminar
director.

JERUSALEM, (JTA)—A 130-
m e m b e r- delegation of Bnai
Brith members from throughout
the United States were guests
at a reception here this week
tendered by the executive of
the Jewish Agency in Jerusa-
lem.
The visitors were greeted by
Zvi Lurie, member of the ex-
ecutive, Dr. Israel Goldstein,
chairman of the Keren Hays-
sod, and A. Avidor, on behalf
of the Israel Foreign Ministry.
A spokesman for the delegation
called for strengthened coopera-
tion between Bnai Brith and
the Zionist movement.

agenda will be a symposium on
the theme: "Zionism and the
American Jew," featuring emi-
nent authorities in the field of
Diaspora-Israel relations.
Sessions will start at 10:30 a.m.

The symposium is scheduled for
12:30 p.m.
The Tri-Cities Zionist District,
of which Samuel Waldman, Mid-
land, is president, will be host to
the convention. Assisting him on
the Tri-Cities committee are
Rabbi Joseph Katz and Cantor
Martin Glancz, Saginaw; Rabbi
Louis Sanker, Louis Merdler and
Leopard Bergstein, Midland; and
Julius Ginsberg, Bay City.

extra visits but also to extra
food because of the advent of
Purim.
Eichmann is attending the
hearings on his appeal, but it
is uncertain whether he will be
allowed to make additional
statements before the appeal
tribunal which consists of Jus-
tice Yitzhak Olshan, president
of the Supreme Court, and four
other Supreme Court justices.
While the presence of an ac-
cused is usually unnecessary
during an appeal, the Court has
apparently decided in favor of
a request by Defense Counsel
Robert Servatius that Eichmann
be permitted to appear and
answer questions.

Under an agreement between
Belgium and the German Federal
Republic on Sept. 28, 1960, a
royal decree has been published
in Belgium to provide for Bel-
gian victims of Nazi persecution.
Requirements for eligibility
under the decree are: Persecutee
must have been a political pris-
oner under Belgian law and must
possess an official document to
prove it.
The persecutee or survivors
must have been a Belgian na-
tional at the time of arrest and
also on Sept. 28, 1960.
Non-Belgians are eligible if
the persecutee does not possess
the nationality of another coun-
try which received global pay-
ments from Germany.
Indemnification amounts to $32
for each month of imprisonment
to a maximum of $763 for per-
sons who qualify as heirs.
Claims must be filed with the
Ministere de la Sante Publique et
de la Famille, Administration
des Victims de la Guerre, 31
Square de l'Aviation, Bruxelles,
Belgium. Claims must be filed
before Nov. 25, 1962. Information

consulates in the United States
