pearing in the Jewish Floridian
which was expert in its report-
ing and deeply analytical of
Jewish culture in the American-
Jewish community today."

A technical book on electrical
engineering, written by LEON
MADJAR, senior lecturer in the
Israel Technion's faculty of
electrical engineering, has been
translated and published in the
Soviet Union, even though the
publishers point out in a special
foreward that they disagree
with the "individualistic" con-
clusions. The book, which deals
with the load factor in the pro-
duction and transmission of
electric power, was published
in German in Berlin in 1955,
the year Madjar left his native
Bulgaria and joined the staff
of the Technion, Israel Institute
of Technology.

EDWARD S. SILVER, Kingi
County District Attorney, has
been named chairman of a na-
tionwide committee to celebrate,
during 1962, the golden jubilee
of the National Council of Young
Israel. Silver has been active
in the Young Israel movement
for 36 years. He was president
of the National Council from
1928 to 1929, again from 1944
to 1948, and has since served
as honorary president.
