A gathering of Histadrut Cam-
paign volunteer workers, chair-
men of many branches of the
Farband, LZOA and Pioneer
Women organizations, and rep-
resentatives of the organizations
division, met Thursday night at
their roll call meeting, to make
their returns and to hear an
address by Yaacov Zerubavel,
veteran leader of the labor
Zionist movement. -
Zerubavel, who is celebrating
his 75th birthday this year, is
a guest in this country of the
National Committee for Labor
Israel. He recently arrived from
Israel—exactly a half century
after his first visit to the United
States.
David Sislin, co-chairman of
the Farband division of the
campaign, presided and Louis
Levine rendered a campaign
report detailing the financial
status of the campaign up to
that point. Returns brought by
the volunteer workers that even-
ing substantially swelled the
total figures of the campaign.
Volunteer worker of the week
was Nathan Rose of the Berez-
nitzer Aid Society, who covered
cards totaling $825. Mrs. Sylvia
Schwartz of Club 2, Pioneer
Women covered 16 cards, Mrs.
Estelle Wilk of Avodah, Pio-
neer Women, 17, and Nathan
Standler, of Yiddish Folks
Verein, covered many cards, all
in substantial measure to the
total week's returns.
The second campaign council
meeting will take place Sunday,
March 18, at the Labor Zionist
Institute. Rabbi Samuel Wohl
will be the guest speaker.
The official campaign closing
event is scheduled for Thurs-
day evening, March 29, in the
Hayim Greenberg Center. Guest
of honor that evening will be
Dr. Judd L. Teller, expert on
Middle East and Soviet affairs.
Miss Malka Ofrat, Israeli singer,
will provide the musical portion
of the program.
Among friends of the Histad-
rut who are joining Histadrut
sponsored trips to Israel this
year are Mr. and Mrs. Jacob
Glaser, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel
Kane, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice
Gelfand, Jacob Len, Milton Feig,
Mr. and Mrs. M. Kwaselow, Dr.
and Mrs. Jerome Mark, Harold
Perlstein, Mr. and Mrs. Kazdan
and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Levitt.
Interest has been shown in
the summer camp program in
Israel for children 13 to 18, to
take place July 12 to Aug. 31.
Among those who are planning
to participate in this program
are the grandchildren of the
Norman Cottlers, the daughter
of the Nathan Sobermans, the
son of the Hyman Lipsitz's, the
daughter of the Fabian Seifers,
the daughter of the Jack Shu-
bows and the daughter of the
Merlin Gottliebs.

Cath. Hospital Opens
$8,000 Kosher Kitchen

READING, Pa., (JTA) — An
$8,000 kosher kitchen to serve
Jewish patients was opened for-
mally here at St. Joseph's Hos-
pital, a Catholic institution con-
ducted by the Missionary Sisters
of the Most Sacred Heart of
Jesus.
. Rabbi Joseph F. Safsel of
Shomrei Habrith Synagogue was
appointed supervisor over the
preparation and serving of the
foods in strict accord with Jew-
ish dietary laws.
Sister St. Robert said, "we
know that a patient who is used
to certain menus and to having
his food prepared and served in
accordance with his religious be-
liefs will find greater peace of
mind at the hospital if he can
obtain that food here.”
