Jewish National Fund
Seeks Congregations'
Help During Purim
The Jewish National Fund
has issued its annual plea to
the rabbis and spiritual leaders
of Michigan's congregations to
conduct the traditional Purim
appeaL for "shalach monos" to
Israel by contributing to the
planting of more trees and land
reclamation.
The announcement was made
by Morris J. Brandwine, presi-
dent of JNF, and co-chairmen
of the Religious Groups Com-
mittee, Phillip Stollman and
Norman Allan.
Many rabbis already have in-
formed the JNF that they will
dedicate their sermons on the
Saturday morning preceding
Purim (which begins March 19)
to the work of the Jewish Na-
tional Fund. Appeals will be
made to congegants before the
reading of the Megillah on
Monday night.
Said .Brandwine: "The Jewish
National Fund today has the
additional responsibility of re-
claiming more and more land,
since it is now the only instru-
ment of land development in
all Israel. Purim must not only
be a holiday of celebration, but
also a holiday of action for the
reclamation of the land which
helps reclaim a people."
