Hadassah Honored in Jerusalem
With the Standard of Valor

DR. ELI DAVIS (left), head of Hadassah's medical outpatient
clinic at the Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Center, is
shown accepting, in Jerusalem, on behalf of Hadassah, the
Israel Army's highest award, the Standard of Valor. The pres-
entation was made by Colonel Josef Nevo, the Jerusalem
District Commander, in recognition of Hadassah's life-saving
role during Israel's War of Independence. In handing over the
standard, Colonel Nevo said: "For the first time an institution
which did not fight with arms, but whose bravery under fire
was exceptional, has been awarded the Standard of Valor" He
said that Hadassah was the first organization, apart from the
border villages, to be honored in this way. The ceremonies in
Jerusalem were attended by members of Hadassah's Golden
Jubilee Mission.
