Dr. and Mrs. Harry E. August

Woods, announce the engage-
ment of their daughter, Mary
Ellen, to Mark H. Saidman, son
of Mrs. Allen Blondy and Dr.
Max Saidman.
Miss August is a senior in
the College of Education at
Wayne State University and is
affiliated with Delta Phi Epsi-
lon sorority. Her finance at-
tends the University of Detroit
Dental School and is a member
of Alpha Omega dental frater-
nity. An Aug. 19 wedding is
planned.
Workmen's Circle Plans Concert,
Luncheon and M eetings for Week
Workmen's Circle activities this
week include a concert, luncheon
and meetings.
The Circle will present a per-
formance of Jewish and Hebrew
songs by Sidor Belarsky 8:30
p.m. Sunday at the Hayim Green-
berg Center, 19161 Schaefer.
Belarsky is a graduate of the
State Conservatory at Leningrad
and was a leading basso of the
Leningrad State Opera Company.
He will be accompanied in the
Detroit concert by Rebecca Froh-
man, pianist.
Tickets are available at the
Workman's Circle Center, Hayim
Greenberg Center, Borenstein's
and Spitzer's book stores.
The Workmen's Circle We-
men's Division will hold its 25th
annual donor luncheon noon
Wednesday at the Circle Center.
A special program will be
given by Lois Ack, vocalist, with
Irene Stein pianist. Gayle Green-
berg, Wendy Shifrin and Beth
Yele n sky, Abraham Reisen
School students, will present a
song and recitation program.
Guest speakers will be Joseph
Bernstein, editor of the Jewish
Daily Forward; Joseph Heide-
man, member of the National
Board of Directors of the Work-
men's Circle; and Mrs. Moses

Center Theater Meet
to Feature New Play
A new play, -My Wife
Ruthie" by James Limbacher,
will be featured at the first
annual "New Faces" meeting of
the Center Theater 8:30 p.m.
Wednesday in the Aaron DeRoy
Theater.
The cast of new actors will
include Jack Gunsaulus, Flor-
ence Glenn, Bernice Weiss and
Estelle Showe.
Roy Huss, of the Wayne State
University English department,
will discuss the play from the
playwright's viewpoint. There
will also be a person-to-person
interview with the playwright.
Detroit Chapter of Hadassah will honor contributors who
filled an "Eye Bank" at the culminating event of its "Save
An Eye Campaign" on March 27 at the Mercury Theater.
