Senior activities have started
with the naming of the steer-
ing committee and the distribu-
tion of officer petitions. On
the committee are: Marian
Barnes, Carol Bennett, Bob
Burton, Chordette Causey, Judy
Cooper, Steve Engelberg, Mari-
lyn Faxstein, Richard Grant,
Elizabeth Guzick, Ruth Heide-
man, David Hirt, Steven
Kikoler, Janet Klayman, Judy
Mosba c h, Sandra Moscow,
Miriam Redstone, Sandy Reis-
man, Lorraine Saginaw, Gary
Schneider, Lee Steinberg, James
Wigler and Roberta Wolfe.
Chosen for the spring play
by Drama Club was "All My
Sons," by Arthur Miller, slated
for presentation May 3 and 4.
Tryouts began last week.
There is a surge in the popu-
larity of skiing at Mumford,
and David Avrin is one of the
leaders in it. Feb. 3, David fin-
ished first in Class 2 of the
Detroit News slalom competi-
tion, sanctioned by the Central
United States Ski Association.
In gaining the title, he defeated
about 30 boys aged 14 to 16.
Mumford had a perfect aver-
age, having all 18 of its semi-
finalists in the National Merit
Scholarship competition gain
the finals. The recently-named
Mumford finalists are Sandra
Acker, Peter Barnett, Jon Blum,
Bob Burton, Judy Diamond, Gail
Disner, Sharon Doubleday, Abel
Feinstein, Michael Gelfand, Bob
Levy, Ann Marcuse, Norman
Oslik, David Ruthland, Lorraine
Saginaw, Leonard Schwartz,
Susan Seligson, Edwin Tobes,
and Joel Woontner.
Mumford's basketball team al-
most surprised the front-run-
ning Northeastern Falcons last
Friday. The Mustangs were
ahead, 32-31 at the half and
47-44 at the end of three quar-
ters, but couldn't hold on
against the superior manpower
of the Falcons as they bowed
