A need which first inspired Henrietta Szold to convert her "literary group" into the philan- thropic group we now know as Hadassah has recurred in Is- rael. On a visit to Palestine in 1912, Miss Szold was appalled at the prevalence of trachoma, a dread eye disease which causes blindness. During the or- ganization's 50 years of activity in campaigning to arrest this and other diseases, the afflic- tions were controlled. However, with the recent im- migration of refugees from North Africa and other Middle East countries, the problem once more has presented itself. In answer, the Detroit Chap- ter of Hadassah has launched a "Save An Eye-Bank Campaign." Eye banks, which can con- tain $5 in dimes, have been dis- tributed to the membership, ac- cording to Mrs. Abe Zitomer, chairman of the drive. "One filled eye-bank will cure one eye of trachoma," she says. Mizrachi Again Will Send CARE Israel Packages Detroit Mizrachi again will send kosher CARE Passover food packages to Israel.
