EPHRAIM DAVRATH

Davrath was born in Germany
in 1926 and came to Palestine
with his parents in 1935. After
graduation from high school, he
volunteered for the Jewish Bri-
gade in the British army and
served in Egypt, Italy, Holland
and Belgium in World War II.
After the war he joined the
Haganah and was assigned , to
organize immigration of refu-
gees to Palestine.
Back in Jerusalem in 1947,
Davrath resumed his studies at
the H e b r e w University. He
served in the Israel War of
Liberation, was captured (luring
the siege of Old Jerusalem, was
a prisoner of the Arab Legion
for a year and after his release
continued his studies at the
Hebrew University.
In 1955, Davrath joined the
economic department of the
Bank of Israel and became a
senior economist . In March,
1961, he was appointed Consul
of Israel in Chicago, in charge
of economic affairs. He is mar-
ried and has one daughter.
The event, which will bring
to a climax the Bar Mitzvah
year Israel Bond campaign in
Detroit, will be held in the
Sheraton-Cadillac Hotel. It will
include an Israeli champagne
hour starting at 9 p.m.; the
parade of 41 creations by the
top couturiers of Italy and Is-
rael, from 10 to 11 p.m.; the
midnight kosher supper, and
dancing until 4 a.m.
Beth-Sheva Laikin will be the
fashion commentator and Mari-
an Meyer will • be the coordi-
nator of the fashion show.
Miss Susan Goldberg, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. David Goldberg,
will model some of the Israeli
creations.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Barnes,
dance instructors, will stage a
dance exhibition. They will be
joined by the dance team of
Nick Dean and Claudia Price
in a feature dance, "The Snow-
ball." There will be no solicita-
tions or speeches. Dress will be
optional.
