NEW YORK, (JTA) — The
United States Armed Forces has
established a quota of 90 Jewish

tional Jewish Welfare Board.
There are now 70 Jewish chap-
lains on active duty in the Army,

tional 42 are to be recruited
from the rabbinical seminaries to

THE DETROIT JEWISH N EWS — Fri day, De cember 29, 1961 '

SAL

—

The David Horodoker Benevo-
lent Society planted a grove of
more than 1,000 trees in the
Detroit Landsmanshaften Sec-
tion of the American Freedom
Forest in Israel.
This was the decision of the
aociety, when it decided to dis-
band after 52 years of service.
In considering how to dispose
of their assets, the membership
unanimously decided that a
grove oi trees in Israel would
be the method by which the
name and achievements of the
society- would best be perpetu-
ated, and at the same time
would help further the develop-
ment of the State of Israel.
