NEW YORK, (JTA) — The
Rabbinical Council of America
reported this week that its Beth
Din—rabbinical court had saved
500 marriages in its first year
of operation. The rabbinical
court marked the first anniver-
sary.

"surpassed all expectations.'
Rabbi Emanuel Racktpan, presi-
dent . of the Rabbinical Court
Corporation, the governing
body for the Beth Din, said that
the 500 successful cases had
been referred to the court by
Orthodox rabbis from all parts
of the United States._ He said
the -court had granted 50 religi-
gious divorces.
The court sits once a week
but it is available on call to
cope with martial or family dis-
putes, Rabbi Weinberg said,
adding that plans had been
made to expand the court's
staff with more family coun-
selors. The court consists of
three rabbis.
