Named Seminary
Area Director

The Jewish Theological Semi-
nary of America, world fountain-
head for Conservative Judaism,
has announced the appointment
of Milton I. Heller as area direc-
tor for Detroit.
A native of Cleveland, but for
the past several years a Miami
resident, Heller was graduated
with honors and obtained his

B.A. degree from Western Re-
servO University. He completed
his graduate studies for the M.A.
degree under the Graduate .Fac-
ulty of the New School for Social
Research in New York and, in
addition, -attended the Cleveland
School of Fine Art, Fenn Col-
lege and George Washington Uni-
versity. He is a member of Alpha
of Ohio Chapter of Phi Beta
Kappa.
Heller previously held posi-
tions as field representative with
the Development Corporation for
Israel, staff associate with the
Hebrew Theological College in
Chicago, associate director of
Development for Roosevelt Uni-
versity, and southern regional
director for Brandeis University.
He has also held research posts
with the U. S. Government and
Western Reserve University. His

Reception Monday

On Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m., Dr.
Finkelstein will be honored at
the Standard Club of the Sher-
aton-Cadillac with a private
buffet-supper reception at which
dietary laws will be strictly
observed.
The reception will be hosted
-by Joseph Holtzman and John
Lurie under the sponsorship of
the Detroit Friends of the Jew-
ish Theological Seminary. On
the preceding evening the Sem-
inary Chancellor will be guest
speaker at the Centennial din-
ner dance at Shaarey Ze
in Cobo Hall.

Faces Sentences
from Two - Courts

WESTPORT, Conn., (JTA)—
Alan S. Moyler, a West Redding
artist, will appear in- Westport
Circuit Court Dec. 19 for sentenc-
ing on charges that for two years
he harassed and annoyed Jewish
residents of the area with anti-
Semitic mail.
The 34-year-old artist also
pled guilty two weeks ago in U.S.
District Court in New Haven to
charges of postal violations
brought against him by the United
States Government.
He was accused of sending
dead rats and bats through th
mails and with defacing
boxes in his campaign.

This Saturday will mark the
culmination of a series of Sab-
bath sermons delivered by the
spiritual leaders of five major
Conservative congregations in
Detroit and dedicated to the
impact on American Judaism
of the Jewish Theological Sem-
inary and its world-famed
Chancellor, Dr. Louis Finkel-
stein.
The sermons constitute an
advance tribute highlighting
the significance of Dr. Finkel-
stein's first visit to Detroit in
eight years. Each rabbi is a
Seminary graduate.
Last Friday evening Rabbi
Moses Lehrman of Congrega-
tion B'nai Moshe spoke on
"Louis Finkelstein: Image of
American Judaism."
