Mrs. Yaacov Herzog, wife of
Israel's ambassador to Canada,
Wednesday spoke to a gathering
of women at the Elmwood Casino
kicking-off the Windsor Israel
Bond Drive.
This year's bond drive is in
honor of Eva Goldberg, last year's
chairman.
Mrs. Betty Verk and Mrs. Shir-
ley Shanbon, this year's co-chair-
men, spoke at the affair and pre-
sented Mrs. Goldberg with a
gift.

Brandeis University Associates Will
Hold 'Champagne Supper' Benefit

The Detroit Chapter of Bran-
deis University Associates will
hold a fund-raising "Champagne
Supper," 5 p.m. Nov. 19 in the
Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton
Cadillac Hotel.
Harold Modell has been named
ticket chairman. Assisting-Modell
will be Abraham Shiffman and
Mrs. Saul G. Dunitz—chairman
and vice chairman of the Food
and Arrangements - Committee.
Arthur Howard, Detroit Chap-
ter president, has announced
that the honored guests at the
Champagne Supper will be Dr.
Abram L. Sachar, Brandeis Uni-
versity President, 'and Wein In-
ternational Scholars Frederique
Apffel of Strasbourg, France, and
Kamal Datta of New Delhi, India.
The Wein International Schol-
arship Program, established in
1958 by a Brandeis University
Trustee, Lawrence A. Wein of
New York City, offers an educa-
tional opportunity to superior

students in foreign lands to work
and study at Brandeis and to
absorb the flavor of America.

tham, Mass., is largely supported
by funds raised through the ef-
forts of its numerous associate
chapters throughout the United
States. Proceeds from the "Cham-
pagne Supper" will be turned
over to the University.

Prize-Winning Movie,
"Hand in Harid," - Adapted
as Book by Helen Winston

"Hand in Hand," the motion
picture that won six different
awards, has been adapted as a
book for young people by its
producer, Helen Winston. She
tells the story of the friendship
of a small Jewish girl and Cath-
olic boy who came face to face
with and try to challenge some
of the problems of their differ-
ent religions. The book was
published by McGraw-Hill.

been editor of
the Saturday
Review since

1939. Under
his direction,
the magazine
has expanded
in scope and
influence from
a purely liter-
ary weekly to
a widely-circu-
lated journal
dealing with
ideas and the
Cousins
arts.
He has lectured in the Soviet
union and has represented his
magazine and the American and
National broadcasting com-
panies at the Egypt-Israel crisis
in 1956-57, as well as represent-
ing the United States to many
foreign countries.
