ments affecting community or-
ganizational structures has
struck another Landsmanshaft
group.
There has been a trend to
merge Landsmanshaften, which
originally were organized to per-
petuate the names of communi-
ties in Russia a n d Poland
whence the members stemmed
and -to provide assistance to the
people -in these communities,
because of the decline in the
memberships of these organiza-
tions.
It has become known this
week that another such merger
will take place here next week.
At a meeting on Tuesday eve-
ning at the Sholem Aleichem
Institut4, the Lachovitcher So-
ciety will merge with the Rov-
ner Aid Society, and the merged
group will be known as Rovner

Benefit Polo Game
Nets $760 for Kids

Some 500 people watched the
recent "Four Chukker" match
between the Amvet All Stars,
captained by Benjamin Levinson,
president of Franklin' Mortgage
Corp., and the Rochester Rockets
in the annual benefit polo game
in behalf of the Children's Fund
of the Allied Veterans Council.
The Amvets won, 5-4, with
Levinson accounting for one of
the goals.
Levinson, chairman of The
Children's Fund, presented a
check for $760 to Michael
Whalen, secretary of the Allied
Veterans Council. This brought
the total amount of monies re-
ceived to date to over $2,000.

years ago and the Lachovitcher
Society is 30-years-old, accord-
ing _to Mrs. Anna Warren,
widow of Louis Warren, who
was a president of the Rovner
group. Each of the societies,
which had memberships of over
100, have dwindled in size to
40 members, each, according
to Mrs. Abe Saginaw, wife of
the vice president of Rovner.
