Dr. Ino Sciaky Is Guest of Honor

at Alpha Omega's Victory Dinner

made a Fellow of the American

American Dental Association

last month in
Philadelphia,
will be hon-
ored guest at
a stag victory
dinner of the
Alpha Omega
Fraternity 7

at Holiday
Sciaky
Manor.
The dinner will mark the cul-
mination of a drive by chapters
of the fraternity_ in Detroit, die
Saginaw Valley and Toledo, as
well as undergraduate chapters
at the University of Michigan
and the University of Detroit to
raise $53,700 to build the Chil-
dren's Operative Division of the
H e b r e w University-Hadassah
School of Denistry, founded by
Alpha Omega in Jerusalem.
Friends of the Hebrew Uni-
versity, Hadassah and the Alpha
Omega Fraternity worked to-
gether-in the drive for a capital

fund totalling $1,250,000 for a
complete four-story building.
Among the g u e s t s at the
dinner will be Mrs. I. Jerome
Hauser, president of the Detroit
Chapter of Hadassah; A. Schiff-
man and other members of the
National Board and Council of
the American Friends of He-
brew University, invited guests
of the fraternity, its allied pro-
fessions a n d businesses a n d
members of the parents' clubs
of Chi and Alpha Nu under-
graduate chapters.
The local Israel D e n t a l
School Committee of the fra-
ternity includes Doctors Abe
Pearlman and Jack Lawson, co-
chairman; Louis I. Galin; past
national president; Fred Stein,
national president; Gerald
Freedman, regent; Frank Sol-
way, chapter president; Joseph
Gossman, vice president; Mar-
tin Naimark, Herbert Bloom,
Ray Pollard, George Leib, Ted
Winshall and John Sturman.
Doctors Bernard Shapiro and
Edwin Schneider are in charge

Chart Leadership Conference

The Detroit Friends and
Patrons of the Jewish Theologi-
cal Seminary of America will
hold their second leadership
conference at the Standard
Club on Tuesday, November 14.
Louis Berry, Sol Eisenberg,
Joseph Holtzman, John Lurie,
Hyman Safran, Benjamin Weiss
and other local Seminary lead-
ers will meet to plan a year-

Begin Construction
in Israel of Memorial
to Lithuanian Jewry

B'NEI B'RAK, Israel, (JTA)
—The cornerstone of a memor-
ial to-Lithuanian Jewry was laid
here on the grounds of Ponevezh
Yeshiva in the presence of Min-
ister of the Interior Moshe Sha-
piro and hundreds of Lithuanian
Jews.
The memorial, to be built at
a cost of 1,000,000 Israeli pounds
($560,000), will contain 700
miniature tombstones, one for
each of the- Lithuanian Jewish
communities destroyed in the
Nazi holocaust.
The structure, to be known
as "Ohel Kedoshim," will also
house subterranean vaults con-
taining a collection of historical
documents and manuscripts of
the various communities. Con-
struction of the memorial will be
financed by private funds raised
abroad through the efforts of
Rabbi Joseph Kahaneman, dean
of the Ponevezh Yeshiva. •_
