World Jewish Congress headquarters in New York re-
ceived a report on the activities of the 1,200-member Jewish
community in Ecuador from Herbert Gedalius, president of
the community's central body. He told the Congress that the
community's new center in Quito (pictured above) includes a
synagogue, community offices, Hebrew school, recreation rooms,
conference hall, a mikveh and a wing constituting an old-age
home. The Ecuadorian community is split in two, with a
little more than 1,000 in Quito, with about 95 children of
school age, and 150 in Guayaquil, 300 miles away, with about a
dozen children at school

cussed by the noted author, lec-
turer and educator Dr. William
Wattenberg at a joint meeting
of the Sisterhood and Men's
Club of Cong. Bnai Moshe 8:30
p.m. Nov. 13 in the synagogue
social hall.
Mrs. Norbert Reinstein and
Nathan Sharon, program chair-
men, announced that the two
organizations have combined
their November programs to ob-
serve "Social Action Month."
They have invited Wattenberg,
professor _ of educational psy-
chology at Wayne State Univer-
sity, to speak on "Normal Con-
flicts and Tensions."
Refreshments will be served
by the Sisterhood a f ter the
formal part of the meeting.
