Israel Observes
`Armor Day'

TEL AVIV, (JTA) — Israel
observed its annual "Armor
Day" Sunday, marking the day
with parades of tanks and other
armor equipment in many cities,
towns and army camps.
"Armor Day" is celebrated
each year on Oct. 29, the an-
niversary of Israel's launching
of the Sinai -campaign in 1956.
Prime Minister David Ben-
Gurion delivered the principal
"Armor Day" address, sum-
marizing Israel's achievements
since the Sinai ,c amp ai g n.
Among the positive factors, he
said, were the opening of the
seaways to Africa and Asia, the
relative quiet on Israel's bor-
ders, and the friendly relations
that have developed with a
number of Asian and African
countries.
In the latter category, he
noted, was Ethiopia's announce-
ment last week that it is ac-
cording de jure recognition to
All of these develop-
ments,. said the Prime Minister,
have their roots in the Sinai
campaign.
Referring to press reports
about a speech delivered by
Egypt's President Gamal Abdel
Nasser, following the Syrian
break-away from the United
Arab Republic, Ben-Gurion told
Armored Corps officers that he
understood the Egyptian ruler
had announced openly his deter-
mination to try to solve' internal
difficulties that have beset
Egypt for 5,000' years. It that
speech was not delivered "on
the impulse of the moment,"
said Ben-Gurion, "I see, here a
hopeful sign." •

When a tire goes flat on the highway,
it's nice to know that you have a spare
ready. It's the same way with money.
On the road of life, emergencies usu-
ally happen without warning. But
spare cash in an American Savings
account will put you back on the road
in a hurry. Start your cushion of cash
now by saving "The American Way."
It's very profitable, too!

Morocco Lifts Ban
on Jewish Paper;
Ex-Mufti Visits King

CASABLANCA, (JTA) -- The
Government of Morocco was dis-
closed to have lifted a ban on
Sale in Morocco of the Jewish
publication, L'Arche which has
been in effect since July. The
ban was lifted after interventions
with officials by directors of the
publication.
At the same time it was re-
vealed that the former Grand
Mufti of Jerusalem paid a three-
day visit to Morocco during
which he discussed with King
Hassan II the "Palestinian prob-
lem" and Moroccan aid "in the
fight against Zionism."
During the visit of the ex-
Mufti, a collaborator with the
Nazis in the extermination of
European Jewry, Moroccan news-
papers, particularly those of the
dominant Istiqlal (Independ-
ence) party, devoted several
articles to the Palestine prob-
lem and the Arab refugees.
