Mr. Weingarden, 17565 Alta Vista, Southfield, was chief of Pontiac's drafting department. He was born in Russia and came to this country 50 years ago. He was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, Town and Country Club and Cong. Adas Shalom. Surviving Mr. Weingarden are his wife, Rose; a daughter, Mrs. Murray Schekter; two ,brothers, Samuel and Leo; and four sis- ters, Shirley, Mrs. Morris Rosen- berg, Mrs. Joseph Weisberg and Mrs. Mollie Gordon. Goldman, who Oct.. 16 at the age of 62. for more than 20 years resided in Ann Arbor and was popular (More Obituaries, Pages 11, 14) among orthodox students whom he assisted in securing 'kosher food, died in Cleveland last week at the age of 77. About 10 years ago he came to Cleveland where he was asso- ciated with the Kinsman Center and other institutions and at the time. of his death with the Park Synagogue. Surviving him are his wife, Sarah; sons, Raymond and P err y; daughters, Mesdames Sally Waxman, Julius Grunz- weig and Stanley Fleeter; 14 grandchildren and six g.eat- grandchildren. PARIS, (JTA)—A monu- ment to the memory of George Mandel, former Jewish Cabinet Minister who died as a captive of the Nazis, was desecrated here. The memorial, which is on the outskirts of Paris, was daubed in red and the letters, OAS, the initials of the right- wing French underground group fighting Algerian inde- pendence, were painted below the daubing.
