help needy families.

The season's opening delegate
assembly of the Jewish Com-
munity Council has been called
by Stanley J. Winkelman, pres-
ident, to convene at Cong.
Beth Abraham, 8100 W. Seven,
8:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The program portion of the
Assembly, "A New Look at Our
Community," will be devoted to
an examination of the economic,
social and educational problems
that affect the metropolitan
area and that are related to
recent shifts of urban popula-
tion.
Panelists include David Cow-

munity Relations of the City
of Detroit; Rev. R o b e r t M.
Frehse, director of the Detroit
Round Table of Catholics, Jews
and. Protestants; Father Clem-

Committee on Human Relations;
Edward M. Turner, president,
Detroit and Michigan Branches,
National Association for the
Advancement of Colored Peo-
ple; Dr. Shmarya Kleinman,
chairman of the Council's neigh-
borhood and housing committee.
Mrs. Philip Bernstein is chair-
man of the Council's delegate
assembly program committee.
A business portion of the
meeting, which will procede the
program, will feature a report
to the delegates on current
Council activities by Walter E.
Klein,_ Council executive . direc-
tor. C hairmen of committees;
Dr. Samuel Krohn, internal re-
lations, Irving Pokempner, cul-
ture, and Louis Rosenzweig,
community relations, will re-
view activities since the last
delegate assembly.
The Sisterhood of Cong. Beth

Dinner for B-J Starts Bond Drive
A dinner in honor of the 75th
birthday of Israel Prime Minis-
ter David Ben-Gurion will in-
augurate an intensive campaign
for the sale of Israel Bonds, it
was announced this week by Tom
Borman, general chairman of the
Detroit Israel Bond Organization.
Borman stated that a goal of
$1,300,000 has been set for this
year's Bond sales—$100,000 for
each year of Israel's existence.
Other highlights of the Fall
Israel Bond campaign will in-
elude Temple Israel's Hanukah
dinner-dance on Dec. 3; the
annual Bnai Brith series of Lodge
Bond Nights to be held during
December, including Pisgah, Dec.
4; Einstein lodge and chapter,
Dec. 9, Marshall-Bloch, Dec. 12,
and Brandeis-Israel, Dec. 13.
Other lodges will participate on
Dec. 11, 12 and 13.
To climax the year, a New
Year's Eve Italy-Israel Fashion
Festival dinner-dance and cham-
pagne celebration will be held
at the Sheraton-Cadillac Hotel
