MILTGN, Mass., (JTA)—Mrs.
Mildred P. Allen, the first Jew-
ish woman to be elected Secre-
tary of State of Connecticut, died
this week at the home of rela-
tives here after a long illness.
A Republican, Mrs. Allen was
elected to that post in 1954 in
the same election which put
Abraham A. Ribicoff into the
Governor's chair. In 1958, she de-
clined to seek re-election. Ribi-
coff and the Democratic ticket
scored a landslide v that
year.
