By JOSEF FRAENKEL
When an anti-Semitic paper
publishes distorted stories about
Jews and the State of Israel,
it is a waste of time sending
in a correction, for these re-
ports are obviously the main
sustenance of such papers. But
the London weekly Spectator is
not an anti-Semitic journal, al-
though it seems, in the last few
years, to have preferred to at-
tack the State - of Israel with
consistent unfairness. It is re-
grettable that such a paper
should misinform its readers
and refuse to correct false
statements, especially about
Theodor Herzl.

I challenge the Spectator
and Erskine B. Childers- to
quote the page in Herzl's
Diaries or in the booklet
"The Jewish State," in which
such a proposal is mentioned.
Childers writes that Herzl's
"draft Charter for Zionist
Colonization of Palestine and
Syria which he submitted . to
the Ottoman Sultanate, Article
-III was to give Zionists the
right to deport the native popu-
lation — in other words, the
Arabs."
The truth is, that Herzl never
drafted the . above-mentioned
Charter which was never sub-
mitted to the Ottoman Sul-
tanate and Herzl never pr
posed to deport the na
population.
Article III of the
mentioned Charter, draft

a misrepresentation and
translation of Article III and
IV which deals with the right
to an exchange of Land Prop-
erty within the Ottoman Em-
pire by voluntary agreement.
Theodor Herzl's sincere
ambition was to achieve
mutual toleration and friend-
ship between the, Jewish-
Arab population as he de-
scribed it in his novel "Old
New Land."

Argentina Dedicates
Rabbinical Seminary

To this day, the Haham and
the Sephardic Jews of the Bevis
Marks Synagogue pray "as the
evening service of Yom Kippur
comes to a close" for .the soul
of Sampson Gideon or Simpson
de Rehuel Abudiente, the an-
cestor of the family Childers.
And today, one of his de-
scendants, Mr. Erskine B.
Childers, constantly abuses the
Jews and Israel, Herzl and
Zionism, by misinterpretation,
misrepresentation and mistrans-
on.

BUENOS AIRES, (JTA) —
The first rabbinical seminary in
Argentina, organized here three
months ago,, was officially dedi-
cated here, with the participa-
tion of many of the Argentine
Jewish community leaders.
The seminary, which has 20
students, headed by an Orthodox
rabbi, Rabbi Jacob Fink, is in-
tended to train Jewish spiritual
leaders, not only for the Ar-
gentine, but also for service
and leadership in neighboring
countries.
