The annual dinner and show
of Yeshivath Beth Yehudah will
be held this year on Oct. 29.
The event is the single com-
munity-wide fund-raising benefit
of the Yeshivah, and has attract-
ed close to 600 of the city's Jew-
ish leadership for the past sev-
eral years.
The organization meeting of
the dinner committee, held last
week, named Daniel A. Laven,
long time Yeshivah leader and
chairman of its Executive, to the
post of general chairman. In ac-
cepting the chairmanship Laven
said, "Our dinner-show benefit
has become the highlight of the
Jewish community's fall social
calendar. It is our hope that this
year's event will surpass even
the great successes of the 1959
and 1960 affairs."
David Goldberg, committee
treasurer, pointed out that the

proceeds of the dinner and - show
form the single largest source of
revenue for the Yeshivah's educa-
tional programs, and called upon
"every Jew to whom Torah Edu-
cation is sacred" to be part of
the work of the Yeshivah by par-
ticipating in the Benefit.
"Our community", he added,
"is among the most generous in
responding to Jewish causes the
world over, and will certainly
want- to- do its duty towards our
local Yeshivah."
Morris Karbal, chairman of the
1960 benefit and head of this
year's Executive Division of the
dinner and show committee, said
that' committee workers can not
possibly cover the community, to
secure maximum reservations, by
the Oct. 29 'date. He urged that
"thOse interested in the work of
the Yeshivah" not wait to be
called upon, but phone in their
