The International Synagogue would be the first to be built at any major airport in the world. It would serve the needs of all Jews: Orthodox, Conservative and Reform. Over ten million travelers and visitors use Idlewild annually. In addition, 20,000 persons are employed at the airport. The synagogue would be lo- cated directly across from the International Arrival Building. It is near to all the leading air- line terminals. Even while negotiations are proceeding, the New York Board of Rabbis is often called upon to assist in providing re- ligious services.
