Allen Building Will Wed Detroiter Sister After 59-Year Separation The Jewish Welfare Federa- tion and the Jewish Home for Aged will pay tribute to the • memory of Sidney J. Allen by naming the home's main build- ing the Sidney J. Allen Build- ing. Dedication ceremonies will be held 10:30 a.m., Sunda y, Sept. 10, at the home, 11501 Petoskey. The entrance to the building and the lobby have been re- modeled through the generosity of the Allen family. A 11 e n was president and chairman of the board of Allen Industries, Inc., and a leader in - Jewish philanthropy. He had a special devotion to the Jewish Home for Aged and was its first vice president at the time of his death, April 8, 1959. . In the 44 years that he lived in Detiroit Allen, a native of Syracuse, N.Y., had become one of the city's top industrialists, developing his father's small bedding company into a multi- million-dollar Corporation. He was honored with the Fred M. B u t z e 1 memorial award for distinguished communal service in 1959. Allen was president of the United Jewish Charities, first vice president of Sinai -Hospital and a campaign cab- inet member of the Allied Jewish Campaign He was one of the founders and a board member of the Hundred Club, which provides funds for the widows and children of 'policemen and fire- men killed in action.
