Spur Israel Kfar Chabad Printing
School Project at Brunch Sept. 17

Announcement was made this
week by the Detroit Committee
of the Vocational Schools in
Kfar Chabad, Israel, that ._the
objectives of the movement will
be outlined at a brunch to be
held at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept.
17, at Rainbow Catering, 18451
Wyoming.
Morris Schaver and. Charles
Feinberg, co-chairman of the
committee, announced that
Rabbi Zalman M. Schachter, di-
rector of the Bnai Brith Hillel
Foundation at the University
of Manitoba and head of the
department of the Judaic studies
at that university, will be the
guest speaker. A musical pro-
gram will be provided by Can-
tor Moshe Teleshevsky of Brook-
lyn.
Rabbi Schachter, a native of
Poland who was raided in
Vienna, spent the war years in
French concentration camp's. He
pursued a career of study by
making his mission in life the
ideas he acquired under the in-
fluence of Lubavitcher, edu-
cators in Belgium. He attended
the Lubavitcher Yeshiva in
Brooklyn in 1944 and was or-
dained Rabbi at the age of 21.
He received his M. A. in pas-
toral psychology from Boston
University. He is a contributor
to a number of Jewish periodi-
cals.
The Israel village Kfar Cha-
bad was established in 1949 by
the elder Lubavitcher Rebbe,

- New Treat for Baby
........

the late Rabbi Joseph Itzhak
Schneersohn. The present Luba-
vitcher Rebbe, his son-in-law,
Rabbi Menahem M. Schneer-
sohn organized the vocational
school at the village_ by estab-
lishing youth classes in carpen-
try and agriculture.
When four of the Kfar Cha-
bad children and an instructor
were murdered by Arabs in
1956,— the Lubavitcher Rebbe
formed a new department, to
teach printing, to be known as
Yad Ha-Hamisha—a Memorial
to the Five.
Financed by the Schaver
and Lazaroff families as a
memorial to the late Mr. and
Mrs. Jacob Lazaroff, the par-
ents of Emma Schaver, the
Detroit committee decided to
build a dormitory at Kfar
Chabad for this new depart-
ment. It is to have 26 rooms
as children's living quarters
and a dining room. A bequest
to Kfar Chabad had been
made in the Lazaroff's latest
testament.
At a meeting at the Feinberg
home, it was decided to spur
efforts for -the :new school and
dormitory at the brunch on
Sept. 17.
.-
The Detroit' committee, in ad-
dition to the co - chairmen,
Schaver and Feinberg, consists
of: Harry Schumer, co-chair-
man; William Hordes, treasurer,
and the following members of
the executive committee: Reu-
ben Axelrod, Max Biber, Javob
Field, David Goldberg, Hyman
Kaber, Max Osnos, Julius Roten-
berg, Isadore Starr, Dr. Israel
Weiner and George Zalman.
A women's committee in-
cludes Mesdames Sam Aaron,
Max Biber, Herbert Eskin, Wil-
liam Hordes and Morris L.
Schaver.
Rabbi Berel Shemtov is exec-
utive director of the Chabad
movement in Detroit.

Heinz Baby Food chefs have
added tapioca to strained plums
to produce an attractive, tasty
new item for baby's menu.
Heinz Strained Plums with
Tapioca is described by a Heinz
spokesman as "a nutritious,
easy to digest, meal which is
free of wheat, egg, milk, and
citrus." The new item is glass
packaged and sealed with the
easier to open Heinz Screw-On
Cap. The old nursery rhyme
now stands revised to read
". . Baby stuck in his thumb,
pulled out Tapioca and Plums,
and said, 'Boy, these new Heinz
goodies sure taste good'!"
