In a letter of introduction to Rabbi Hur- vitz, prior to - his departure for the United States, Agnon wrote: "Behold, I send you my friend, Rabbi Elazar Hurvitz, .a clever man, writer, musician and bibliographer, who is to be found among - the dear children of Zion and Jeru- salem." - A native of Jerusalem., Rabbi Hurvitz completed his rabbinic studies in his home city and has since then labored on rare doc- uments. He is collecting historic volumes and is making a study of Talmudic data. Before coming to Detroit, he visited museums in New York and has found a number of doc- uments related to others now in Israel. He, plans to continue his research in this country, -in New York's Jewish Museum of the Theological Seminary and Union College in Cincinnati, be- fore returning to Israel prior to the Holy Days.
