In a forthcoming book, "The
New Germany and the Old
Nazis," T. H. Tetens devotes
one whole chapter to Dr. Hans
Globke. In it he reveals infor-
mation on Globke's past in the
Nazi regime and his unrivaled
position of power in West Ger-
many today.
Based on thousands of public
news stories and court records,
the Tetens book, -to be released
soon by Random House, is an
expose of the resurgence of
Nazism and anti-Semitism in
the "new" Germany. It includes
current activities of thte Ger-
man SS and the underground
Nazi party, and describes the
protective measures which still
maintain Nazis in high places,
such as the courts, the police,
and the Foreign Office. The aim.
of "The New Germany and the
New Nazis" is to clarify for
Americans the aims . and ambi-
tions of modern Germany, as
her position in the Cold War
becomes more crucial.
When Hitler came to power,
Tetens, who is not Jewish, was
sent to a concentration camp
for his criticism of the Fueh-
rer's policies. Born in Berlin,
Tetens worked in Germany dur-
ing the 1920s as an economist
-and newspaper editor. He came
to the United States in 1938, and
from 1946 to 1947 served with
the U.S. War Crimes Commis-
sion in Washington. Now di-
rector of the Library on Ger-
manic and Related Interna-
tional Problems, he has writ-
ten several books on the Ger-
man question, the latest being
"Germany Plots with the Krem-
lin."
Anti-Semitic Gang
Terrorizes Middle-Age
Pair in San Francisco
Twelve youths have been ap-
prehended in San Francisco
after waging a 15-month anti-
Semitic war against a middle-
aged Jewish couple.
Furniture dealer Frank Bow-
man, haggard and 25 pounds
lighter since the start of the
ordeal, said, "We lost 15 months
of our lives."
The reign of terror against
the Bowmans included a day
and night threat campaign by
telephone, . tossing beer bottles
through windows and burning
the couple's automobile.
Three of the youths, under
18, were turned over to juvenile
authorities. Nine have been in-
dicted by a grand jury' on
charges of conspiracy to commit
arson, malicious mischief, mak-
ing lewd phone calls and dis-
turbing the peace. All of the
offenders reportedly come from
"-good" families.
Police fianally solved the case
after tracing a call.
Asked the reason for perse-
cuting the Bowmans, one. of the
youths replied,- "For the obvi-
ous reason - we had nothing
else to do."
