.2 Tobacco Companies Still Avoiding Israel

NEW YORK, (JTA) — In-
formed sources said they had
no information to substantiate
reports that British-American
Tobacco and Brown & William-
son Company had changed their
policy on the sale of tobacco
products to Israel.
They said that, in conformity
with the Arab boycott, both
companies still refused to sell
Lucky Strike cigarettes to
Israel. Brown & Williamson
manufacture the cigarette un-
der license from the British
firm.
British-American T o b-a c c o
took the position some years
ago that, since it had been
given a choice by the -Arabs of
the Arab market or the Israeli

market, "good business" re-
quired it to choose the Arab
market, which was many times
greater.
