Outlines Goals

The Brith Rishonhn of the
United States restated its pur-
poses at a meeting held last
week in New York under the
chairmanship of Louis Lipsky.
•Morris Margulies, honorary
secretary, outlined the goals and
purposes of the organization as
follows:
1. To provide a central ad-
dress to which any member may
turn for advice or counsel and
find companionship among men
and women with the same his-
torical past.
2. To meet from time to time
in order to give public expres-
sion to opinion on important
issues i n current Zionist life:
3. To protect and defend the
honor and prestige of the Zion-
ist Movement.
4. To endeavor to collect and
preserve data dealing with the
history of the Zionist Movement
in the United States, particu-
larly the individual contribu-
tions made by American Zionists
in ,the pre-State development of
the Jewish national.home.

Sheraton Cadillac Hotel.

The bride wore a gown of
white Alencon lace and organza
with a petal neckline. She car-
ried a bouquet of white orchids
and stephanotis.
Margaret Galdouyi was maid
of honor and Herbert Mandel
was best man. Ushers were
Carl Riseman, Jay Franklin,
Edwin and Theodore Rosen-
berg.
A reception and dinner fol-

couple departed for a New
England honeymoon, after -
which they will reside in High-
land Park.

Universities Award
Honorary Degrees

NEW YORK, (JTA)—Yeshiva
University awarded 441 degrees
and diplomas, and conferred six
honorary doctorates, at the in-
stitution's 30th annual com-
mencement exercises here.
The commencement address
was delivered by Dr. Barnaby
C. Kenney, president of Brown
University.
Dr. Maurice B. Hexter, execu-
tive vice-president of the Fed-
eration of Jewish Philan-
thropies of New York, was
among the recipients of honor,
ary degrees at the commence-
ment exercises. The honorary
degree of doctor of divinity was
conferred on Rabbi Emanuel
Rackman.

held its tenth annual commence-
ment exercises.
During the exercises, Dr.
Abram L. Sachar, president of
Brandeis, awarded graduate and
bachelors degrees to 300 men
and women students of the uni-
versity.
Among the recipients of
honorary degrees were Abra-
ham A. Feinberg, president of
the Israel Bond Organization;
and Dr. Maurice B. Hexter, ex-
ecutive vice-president of the
Federation of Jewish Philan-

Noah Nachbush, well known
Yiddish actor, has won many ad-
mirers in recent years for his
numerous recordings.
In the several records he al-
ready has produced, he emerges
as an able entertainer.
His latest long playing record
contains eight songs. It starts
with "Klingen Glocken"—"Bells
Ringing"—by Moishe Broderson.
Also on the first side of the
record are: "Ven Ich Bin Roths-
child"—"If I Were Rothschild"
—by Sholem Aleichem, "Hassidic
Chants," arranged by Nachbush
himself, and "Die Frosh"—"The
Frog"—by Yehoash.
The Yiddish selection of songs
continues on the second side Of
the record with the following:
"Mendel Blechener," by Sholem
Aleichem; "Ch'tzos"—"Midnight
Meditation," taken from Jewish
folklore; "Reb Yochanan Hasand-
ler," by Almi, and "Uncle Elye,"
by L. Morgentoi.
Nachbush, a founder of the
famous Vilna Art Theater, fol-
lows the traditions of the Vilna
Troupe in his art. His recordings
have won a following in Israel as
well as in this country. They are
