The 48th chapter of Phi Sigma
Delta fraternity was established
Sunday at Wayne State Univer-
sity with >Joseph H. Persky of
Cleveland, national vice presi-
dent, presiding.
Edward Meth is head of the
local chapter.
Dr. J. Don Marsh, assistant
dean of students at Wayne, was
guest speaker at the installation
ceremonies. Other Phi Sigma
Delta chapters in Michigan are
located at the University of Michi„
gan and the University of Detroit.

The Young Married League of
Cong. Shaarey Zedek will hold
its annual family day noon Sun-
day at the Oak Park Community
Park.
Members and their friends
are invited to bring . their lunch.
Watermelon, soft drinks and
potato chips will be furnished.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Fishman,
chairmen, (EL 7-0238) advise
that there will be games and
prizes for kids of all sizes. The

recently returned from a tour -of England; France, West Germany,

Mrs. Lawrence Weitzman, formerly of Detroit, now residing
in Canoga Park, Calif., is here to attend the wedding of her neice,
Judith Lederman.
Daniel Ira Garfield, son of Dr. and Mrs. Morris Garfield of

Rainbow Terrace celebrating the observance of his Bar Mitzvah

Lawrence S. Halpern, son of Rabbi and Mrs. Israel I. Halpern,
:18681 Santa Rosa, returned home this week after spending the
past school year in Israel doing post-graduate studies in Talmud
and Jewish philosophy. He begins studies at Harvard Law School
-in the fall.
Mr. and Mrs. Irwin 'Field, of Los Angeles, Calif., formerly
of Detroit, are visiting here for a few days with their parents

Peoples UJA tour of Israel and JDC installations in Europe.
Friends and family of the Bernard Stashefskys held an open
house in honor of their •0th anniversary at the home of their
children, Mr: and Mrs. Dan S. Levit, 19284 Beaverland. Meisrs.
and Mesdames Jerome 'Stasson and Israel Stashefsky also were
honored on the occasion of their wedding anniversaries.
The Rosner Family Club will meet Sunday at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Wise, 18646 Woodingham.
Mrs: Bertha Rubinstein of Kentucky Ave. recently was given
a farewell party in her honor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Scharlten of Livonia, where friends and family wished her a
happy reunion with her son Marvin in Israel. She will return in

wed in a - ceremony performed
by Rabbi Neufelk June 18 at
Ahavas Israel Synagogue in
Grand Rapids.
A dinner and reception fol-
lowed at the Pantlind Hotel.
The bride wore a gown of
chantilly lace With a bateau
neckline, re-embroidered with
seed pearls, as was her semi-
pillbox headpiece, which held
a veil of imported ivory silk
tulle. The gown was also re-
embroidered with sequin trim
and the lace sleeves tapered to
points over the wrists. The
fitted waist released a bouffant
skirt of delustered ivory satin
inset with panels of chantilly
lace. The skirt terminated in a
sweeping cathedral train. Tropi-
cal orchids and varigated Eng-
lish ivy and stephanotis adorned
her white Bible.
- Linda Mitchell was maid of
honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs.
Ronald I3oorstein, Mrs. George
Eisenberg, Paula Tendler and
Lorraine Salomon. George Eis-
enberg was best man: Ushers
were Ronald Boorstein, Arthur.

Summer Camping for 43 Oldsters

Forty-three Older Adults are
currently enjoying two weeks
of summer camping at Camp
Tamarack in Ortonville. The
ages of the campers are 60-86
years, with the average a youth-

Following a reception at the
home of the bride's parents,
the couple left on a trip through
upper Michigan. After Mrs. Bar-
ron received her master's de-
gree of social work at Wayne
State University Thursday the
couple prepared for an extended
trip to Puerto Rico and Haiti.
They will make their home at
Franklin Hills Country Club
until late summer when they
will move into their new home
in Huntington Woods.
The bride's cousin, Rhoda
Pregersop, was maid of honor,
and- her bridesmaids were Mrs.
Martin Blatt; Mrs. Martin Frank
of Forest Hills, N.Y.; Mrs. Wal-
lace Handler and Lynn Smokier.

- The bride's gown of pearl-
white Moygashel linen featured
a mandarin-styled bodice dis-
tinguished by the collar from
which dropped a banding of the
same material with self-covered
buttons. Tiny set-in sleeves com-
pleted the detail of the . fitted
bodice. From under a contour
belt, the skirt flared slightly
from unpressed pleats at the
sides and large appliques of
point di Venise lace and cotton
flowers, with velvet flowerets
in the center, cascaded down
the skirt and bordered the hem-
line.
H e r two-tiered Elizabethan
illusion veil was held by a
coronet of the lace flowers that
made up the appliques on her
gown. She carried a sheaf of
daisies.

For eight years the Older
Adults have had a camp at
Tamarack, but due to new
budgetary restrictions_ of the
Jewish.Center, the program was
to be curtailed this. year.
Detroit Section, National
Council of Jewish Women, de-
cided to step in and assume the
cost for the camping program.
Throughout the year Council
has maintained an active inter-
est in the Older- - Adult Pro-
gram at the Center by provid-
ing its volunteers. Mrs. Victor
S h i f f m a n, Chairman of the
Older Adult Committee at the
Center and a Board member of
Council, -reports that because of
its great success, plans are now
being formulated for Older
Adult camping on a year 'round
basis.
