(A rarable from the Talmud)
Rabbi Baroka, a . saintly _mystic,
one day as he was walking
through the crowded market
place, met Elijah, the wandering
spirit of prophecy in Jewish lore.
"Who of all this multitude has
the best claim to Heaven?" asks
the Rabbi of his spirit companion.
The Prophet points to a disrep-
utable, weird-looking creature, a
turnkey. "That man, yonder, be-
cause he is considerate to his
prisoners and refrains. from all
unnecessary cruelty. In that mini-
ature hell over which s e pre-'
sides, he has s
a horror".

depressed and the sorrowful.
Whenever they see a sufferer
they join him, and by their merry
talk, by their pranks, cause him
to forget his grief."
The heart ennobles any calling.
A humble turnkey may leave the
saintly behind in true merit of
life; and a jester may be first in
the kingdom of heaven, if disin-
terestedly he has helped dimin-
ish the sadness in human lives.

the result of propaganda of the

charges.
The - declaration also asserted
that Globke `-`fought against"
the persecutions "with all means
at his disposal. His commentary
on the Nuremberg racial law
aided many victims of Nazism."
This was a reference to repeated
charges- that Globke's commen-
taries worsened their applica-
tion to Jews.
"The claim by Dr. Max Mer-
tens, the former war commis-
sioner. in Salonika who was
sentenced to 25 years imprison-
ment by. a Greek tribunal, that
Globke had prevented the liber-
ation of 108,000 Greek Jews has
long since been proved false"
the Chancellery statement con-
tinued. "Globke never had any-
think to do with Eichmann.'?
Although the charges have
been ignored by West German
newspapers close to the Bonn
government., such as the Frank:
furter Allegemeine Zeitung, the
opposition newspapers have
been devoting considerable at-
tention to them. The Frank-
furter Rundschau declared edi-
torially that "uncouth, clumsy
propaganda should not hinder
the search for truth."

Nazi Leader Reveals
He Saw Eichmann in
Argentina in 1955

STOCKHOLM, (JTA) —
Johannes von Leers, notorious
Nazi propagandist now work-
ing for the United Arab Repub-
lic in Cairo, revealed in a letter
to the Swedish weekly, Vecko-
journalen, that he met with
Adolf Eichmahn in Argentina
in 1955.
Von Leers stated that, when
he met Eichmann at Buenos
Aires, the Gestapo leader now
on trial in Israel "refused to
give me information about the
number of Jews who died in the
concentration c a in p s." Von
Leers denied he is a propa
gandist for the UAR govern-
ment, saying "I am not required
to make Arabs hostile toward
Israel." He said he is. "a con-
sistent enemy of political. Juda-
ism and world Zionism" and
declared "many anti-Zionist
Jews share this feeling."
