Churgin was, at the time of
his death in 1957, president . of
Bar-Ilan University in Israel.
Prior to that he was associated
with YeShiva University for
more than three decades, serv-
ing as dean of the Teachers
Institute for Men, professor of
Jewish history and literature
and editor of Horeb, semi-
annual scholarly publication on
Hebrew literature.
