Allied Jewish Campaign Solicitors Stay Attempts to 'Soften' Germany's
on Job •to Reach 3,000 Potential Donors Guilt Denounced by Survivors

"There will be no clean-up
operation in the 1961 Allied Jew-
ish Campaign," announced Paul
Zuckerman, Campaign chairman.
"I am asking each solicitor to
stay on the job and give each of
our remaining prospective con-
tributors all the attention and in-
formation he needs to make his
very best pledge. We are in a
hurry to reach our remaining
contributors but we have enough
time and enough workers on the
job to thoroughly solicit each
one," Zuckerman said.
Twenty-six hundred workers in
the 1961 Allied Jewish Campaign
are back on the job contacting
approximately 3,000 1960 con-
tributors who have not yet made -
a 1961 gift..
The annual fund-raising cam-
paign of the Jewish Welfare Fed-
eration has raised $4,615,000 for
the 56 separate, local, national
- and overseas causes it serves.
Zuckerman had special praise
for chairmen whose sections have

W. German Embassy
Assures Quick Action

WASHINGTON, (JTA)—The
Federal Government of West
Germany "will continue to make
every effort for the quickest
possible processing of restitu-
tion claims" presented by Nazi
victims and "will take all neces-
sary measures to achieve a satis-
factory settlement of all out-
standing claims," the West Ger-
man Embassy declared.
The statement -emphasized
that the Bonn Government "has
considered restitution for in-
justice committed by the Nazis
as one of its foremost tasks."
This task, the statement said,
has alieady been accomplished
to a considerable degree. "This
is evident from the payments
of approximately 13 billion
marks ($3.1 billion)- made so
far by the Federal Republic,"
the embassy pointed out:
"In view of the magnitude
of this undertaking, it need
cause no surprise that even, to-
