Dr. Zeitlin Again
Questions Antiquity
of Dead Sea Scrolls
In a review of recent books
dealing with the Dead Sea
Scrolls, in the latest issue of
Jewish Quarterly Review, Dr.
Solomon Zeitlin reiterates his con-
tentions that the scrolls belong
not to antiquity but to the Middle
Ages. In his article, Dr. Zeitlin
states:
"The writings of the Dead Sea
Scrolls demonstrate the paucity
of modern scholarship not only
among Christian theologians but
also among Jewish professors.
"To reiterate, it is ironical that
scrolls written by obscure sec-
tarians who were semi-literate
Jews of the Middle Ages, are
used by Christian theologians for
proofs of Christian institutions
and the origin of Christianity and
by agnostics to disprove the doc-
trines and dogmas of Christianity.
Passages in the scrolls have been
adulterated by both groups to
support their views. The scrolls
have become idols. Israel is build-
ing a shrine to house the idols.
Anyone who utters views ques-
tioning the antiquity of the
scrolls is considered a heretic
and it is consequently held that
his views should be suppressed.
`Heresy' is of course a danger to
conformity."

Camp Chief Gets Life
ANSBACH, (JTA) — The
Ansbach jury court sentenced
Karl Chmielewski, former
commandant of the Gusen
sub-camp of the Mauthausen
concentration camp, to life
imprisonment for the murder
of nearly 300 camp inmates.
The former SS officer was
sentenced after sever al
weeks of testimony by more
than 100 witnesses who gave
descriptions of unbelievable
horrors which took place at
the sub-camp. These included
the death baths devised by
Chmielewski in which in-
mates were taken naked to
the camp courtyard and
hosed down with ice cold
water until they died.
