Stratford Agenda for '61 Festival
A special Institute for mem-
bers of board, committees and
staff of the Jewish Family and
Children's Service is scheduled
for 8 p.m. Wednesday at the
Jewish Center.
The Institute has been care-
fully planned by a select com-
mittee, headed by Mrs. Ben-
jamin E. Jaffe and Mrs. Charles
Lakoff. It is designed to give
board and committee members
a deepened familiarity with the
services of the agency.
Brief presentations will be
made by the following staff
members: "What Problems Do
People Bring to Us?," Milton
Weiner; "The People We Help,"
Sheldon Siegel; "The Resources
for Helping," Rose Kaplan;
"Unmet Needs," Harold Silver.
Mrs. Samuel Linden will act
as moderator and lead the dis-
cussion.
The widely - acclaimed Israeli
film, "I Like Mike," is one of
five feature films from as many
different countries, plus an as-
sortment of snort subjects, that
have been entered in the Strat-
ford Film Festival, John Haye,
director, announced.
In all, 48 countries were ap-
proached with requests for films
of exceptional merit, Hayes said.
It is hoped • that many of them
will be represented at the Avon
Theater when the Film Festival
opens on Aug. 21.
During the two-week run of the
Festival, which continues until
Sept. 2, showings will be twice a
day at 2:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.,
except on the opening day when
there is no matinee.
Feature films will include
"Romeo, Juliette et les Ten-
ebres" ("Romeo, Juliet and
Darkness") from Czechoslovakia,

Center Leadership Program

receipt of a special grant from
the Northwest Child Rescue
Women for the purpose of prn-
viding . specialized leadershiP_
for a group of young adults
who have been meeting at the
Center since the spring of 1960.
This grant will make it po§
sible for young people enrolled
in this group to participate'in
a recreational program geared
to their special needs.
