Martin Buber's "Two Types of
Faith—A Study of the Interpre-
tation of Judaism and Christian-
ity," has been issued as a paper-
back by Harper & Bros.
The eminent scholar discusses
two types of faith—the first hav-
ing its classic example in the
early period of Israel, "the peo-
ple of faith"; and the second in
the early Christian period "that
arose in the decay of ancient
settled Israel . . . from the death
of a great son of Israel and the
subsequent belief in his resurrec-
tion.. . "
Reviewing the teachings of the
Prophets and of Jesus and his
disciples, Buber delves into the
basic ideas of faith - and into the
differences that exist in Judaism
and Christianity. He states:
"The faith of Judaism and the
