Community Observes Passover

Passover will be - ushered in
with special sermons at syna-
gogue services this e v e n i n g,
Saturday and Sunday, and local
organizations are planning spe-
cial celebrations and third seders.
Following is a list of community
activities, beginning with a list-
ing of synagogue services for the
first and second days of and
Yizkor prayers April 8.
CONG. BNAI MOSHE Passover
services will be held 6:30 p.m.
today, 8:45 a.m. Saturday and
Sunday and 6:45 p.m. on both
days. Rabbi Moses Lehrman will
speak on "An Island Unto Him-
self" at Saturday morning serv-
ices, and his topic Sunday morn-
ing will be "Of Men and Robots."
Beginning with 6 p.m. services
t o d a y, Passover observance at
ADAS SHALOM SYNAGOGUE
will be held 8:36 a.m. Saturday
and Sunday. Rabbi Jacob Segal
will preach the sermon Saturday
on "Encounter with History" and
Sunday on "Freedom to Do the
Possible." Cantor Nicholas Fena-
kel will chant the liturgy, assisted
by the synagogue choir under the
direction of Shimon G e w i r t z.
Services the morning of April 7
will be conducted by members
of the youth congregation.
CONG. DOVID BEN NU-
CHOI will hold Passover serv-
ices 6:35 p.m. today, Saturday
and Sunday- and at 9 a.m. on
the first and second days of
the festival. Rabbi Chaskel
Grubner will speak on
"Ancient Passover in Modern
Times" and "Living the Free-
dom Way."
TEMPLE BETH EL services
will be held 5:30 p.m. today and
10:30 a.m. Sunday. Dr Richard
C. Hertz will preach on "Passover.
and Easter." The annual congre-
gational seder will be held 6:30
p.m. Saturday in the Franklin
Memorial Hall of the Temple.
Passover will be ushered in by
BETH AARON SYNAGOGUE
with 6:30 p.m. services today and
8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. services
Saturday and Sunday. Rabbi Ben-
jamin Gorrelick will preach the
sermons_ on "Giving Oneself the
Major Privilege of Freedom" on
Saturday and "Freedom Under
God" on Sunday. A - congrega-
tional seder will be held by the
Men's Club 7:45 p.m/ Saturday.
Cantor Ihil Gilden will chant the
prayers at the seder and at - all
services.
CONG. AHAVAS ACHIM will
observe Passover with services at
6:35 p.m. today, 8:45 a.m. and
6:45 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Cantor Simon Bermanis, assisted
by Reverend Joseph Baras, will
chant the liturgy, and Rabbi Mil-
ton Arm will preach the sermons.
Topics are "When Giving Means
Living" Saturday and "Freedom's
Newest Enterprise" Sunday. A
third seder conducted by the
Men's Club will be held 8:30 p.m.
Sunday in the synagogue social
hall. Men's Club president Larry
Guttenberg announces members'
children studying in the Hillel
Day S c h- 0 01, United Hebrew
Schools, or those associated with
Lahav, synagogue youth affiliate,
will participate. Rabbi Arm and
Cantor Bermanis will officiate at
the seder.
A congregational seder will
be held at TEMPLE EMANU-
EL this evening, and at 10:30
a.m. services _Saturday the
congregation's junior choir,
directed by Mrs. Albert Stutz,
will sing the liturgy. Rabbi
Milton Rosenbaum will speak
on "Our Oldest Festival."
YOUNG ISRAEL OF GREEN-
FIELD will hold Passover serv-
ices 6:40 p.m. today and 9 a.m.
Saturday and Sunday. Saturday
evening services will be held at
6:45. Rabbi Josha Sperka will
preach on "Premature Freedom."
Passover prayer s will be
chanted at CONG. BNAI DAVID
6:30 p.m. today and 8:30 a.m.

Saturday and Sunday. Rabbi
Hayim Donin will preach on
"Hunger — Physical and Spirit-
ual" and "L i k e a Man of
S event y." Cantor. Hyman J.
Adler and the Bnai David -Choir
will chant the service. The jun-
ior congregation will meet at 10
a.m. both days. Concluding Pass-
over services will be held 6:45
p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m.
April 7 and 8. Yizkor will be
recited 10:30 a.m. April 8.
CONG. SHAAR HASHO-
MAY1M - of Windsor will hold
services 6:40 p.m. today and 8:30
a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Eve-
ning services for both days will
be 6:30. Rabbi Samuel S. Stoll-
man will speak on "Four New
Questions" and "Jet-Age Pass-
over" on the first and second
days of Passover.
CONG. SHAAREY SHO-
MAYIM festival services will
be held 6:45 'p.m. today, 9
a.m. Saturday and Sunday and
7:30 p.m. Saturday. Sermon
topic will be "Civil Liberties"
and "Spiritual Freedom." Dr.
Leo Y. Goldman will officiate.
Rabbi Joel J. Litke will dis-
cuss "On Guard" and "The Sym-
bolism of Leaven" at 8:45 a.m.
services Saturday and Sunday at
CONG. GEMILUTH CHASSO-
DIM Alex Roberg will chant the
liturgy. Evening services will
be held 6:45.
Passover services at CONG.
SHAAREY ZEDEK will be held
6 p.m. today and 9 a.m. Satur-
day and Sunday. _Rabbi Morris
Adler will preach on "Freedom's
Open Doo,r" at Saturday morning
services and. Rabbi Irwin Groner
will speak on "From the House
of Bondage" Sunday. Cantors
Jacob H. Sonenklar and Reuven
Frankel will chant the liturgy,
assisted by Dan Frohman and the
synagogue choir.
YOUNG ISRAEL CENTER OF
OAK-WOODS will hold services
6:45 p.m. today and 9 a.m. Sat-
urday and'Sunday. Rabbi YaakoV
I. Homnick will preach.
TEMPLE ISRAEL Passover
evening services will be held
at 6 p.m. today. Rabbi M. Rob-
ert Syme will deliver the ser-
mon at 10:30 a.m. services
Saturday.
The festival will be ushered in
with 6:45 p.m. services today at
LIVONIA JEWISH CONGREGA-
TION. Saturday morning services
will be held at 8:45. On APril 7
and 8 the schedule will be as
follows: 6:45 p.m. Friday an
